Tinnitus, Vertigo, and hearing disorders are more than just ear conditions; they disrupt lives, strain emotions, and impact mental well-being in ways many don’t realize. Over the years, I have treated countless patients, not just for their symptoms but for the hidden struggles these conditions bring—frustration, anxiety, and the feeling of being unheard.
This blog is my way of bridging that gap—a space where I provide reliable ENT health guidance, emotional support, and evidence-based strategies to help those navigating these challenges.
As an ENT specialist in Navi Mumbai with over 23 years of experience, I have always been committed to holistic patient care. However, working with tinnitus, vertigo, and hearing loss patients changed my perspective forever.
One particular moment still stays with me. A patient once dismissed my advice on CBT, mindfulness, and sound therapy and left a negative Google review, saying:
🗣️ “Madamji bahut baat karti hai (Madam talks a lot). She could have just told me, surgery or hearing aid.”
He had an ear condition called otosclerosis and wanted a quick fix—he didn’t understand why we were discussing mindfulness or therapy.
His words stung. Not because he questioned my approach, but because they reflected how little awareness exists about these conditions. Many people expect instant cures, but tinnitus requires more than just medication, hearing aids, or surgery—it requires a mindset shift.
This made me rethink my role as an ENT specialist. Treating the ear was not enough; I needed to educate patients & help them heal from within. Many underestimate the impact of tinnitus and vertigo on mental health—or how psychological distress can worsen these ENT conditions.
That’s why I started integrating evidence-based psychological therapies into my treatment approach, including counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) for patients struggling with anxiety & fear.
To support my patients beyond prescriptions, I pursued:
✅ Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT/CBT) to help tinnitus, vertigo & hearing loss patients cope with anxiety
✅ Counseling certification in Carkhuff’s model
✅ Certification in vestibular rehabilitation from The American Institute of Balance
✅ Training from leading vertigo mentors, including Dr. Srinivas Dorasala, to refine my approach to balance disorders
And the journey continues…
These therapies transformed my approach. Today, I integrate medical treatment with psychological resilience techniques, helping patients achieve long-term relief instead of just temporary fixes.
